The Beaches

Playa de  Illetes (North)

Rated ‘Best Beach in Europe’ by Trip Advisor and compared with the Caribbean due to its fine, white sand and crystal clear water. This beach is perfectly sheltered by the sand dunes. Check out restaurant Juan Y Andrea which has excellent cuisine be it seafood, fish, rice or a fancy meat dish.

Platja Migjorn (South)

You’ll find a few bars and restaurants in this area with the ubiquitous crystal clear turquoise seawater and white sandy beaches of Formentera. This beach boasts a backdrop of pine forests and salt flats nearby. It is one of the longest beaches on the island consisting of small coves which is linked via wooden footpaths.

Cala Saona (West Coast)

Secluded quiet cove with restaurants and bars around the little bay. This picture-perfect beach also boasts the most stunning sunset views

Cavall d’en Borras (North West Coast)

Hosting crystal clear waters, white sandy beach and conveniently located next to the port of La Sabina, Es Cavall d’en Borras is quieter but equally as beautiful and never as crowded. Check out this great bar called Beso Beach, make sure to try their cocktails!

S’Espalmador (North)

Small privately owned uninhabited island is located just to the north of Formentera from which it is separated by a shallow sandbar. During low tide, it is possible to wade between the two islands.  But safer by boat. The island has pristine beaches, freshwater springs and a mud-bath. This really is a wonderful place to swim, sunbathe and discover some of the beautiful Balearic flora and fauna in a completely unspoilt environment. Don’t forget to take sun cream, food and drink as there is nothing here but the pure, unadulterated beauty of nature.
